What is waterproofing?
In building construction, a structure needs waterproofing since concrete itself will not be watertight on its own (but note concrete can be waterproofed with additives). The conventional system of waterproofing involves ‘membranes’. This relies on the application of one or more layers of a membrane that act as a barrier between the water and the building structure, preventing the passage of water. However, the waterproof membrane system relies on exacting application, presenting difficulties. Problems selecting correct products application or adherence to the substrate can lead to leakage.

Waterproofing is generally approximately 1.1 % of a total construction cost. Unfortunately it is the cause of approximately 80% of building complaints. It is critical that when requiring the services of a waterproofer that your due diligence must be done before making any decisions. Upon selecting the correct waterproofing applicator you must ensure the company is completely licensed and insured.
A great way to get some background prior to selecting your waterproofing company is to inspect some of the previous work completed within the last six months or to obtain references from current clients. You must be sure and do research of the products they are recommending and ask what procedures will be taken and back reference with the manufacturer. When it comes to waterproofing, elongation, tensile strength, chemical resistance and curing times are just a few key aspects that need to be taken into consideration.
When working with Precision Seal Waterproofing you will have peace of mind that you have selected a professional team who will ensure all Australian Standards and manufacturers specifications are followed. We involve our clients throughout the entire process so they can see how everything is progressing.
